With the perfect combination of super-soft fabrics and fillings, James. provides luxurious eco-friendly dog beds. We caught up with founders Jodie Rainsford and Tom Aveling, to discuss how they design their dog beds to blend comfort and style seamlessly into your home.
What inspired you to start James.?
We were on the hunt for a gorgeous dog bed that actually looked good in our lounge and we didn't want to hide it away when we had visitors and just couldn’t find anything out there so decided to make our own - it was so popular with friends and visitors the idea to start a business came along.
What is unique about James. products?
Our products are stylish and made in New Zealand from gorgeous upholstery fabrics. They are filled with stuffing made from recycled plastic bottles, not only is it super snuggly it's also good for our planet!
Where do you get your inspiration from?
We pick styles and designs that we love, that we think will look good in people's homes, be comfy and snuggly for our dogs, and will of course last!
As a couple, how do you work together?
It's great having someone else to have ideas to bounce off, make the tough decisions with and share the excitement, we both have a really similar style and taste so it fits really well.
What's on the horizon for James?
We aren't sure at the moment! We have talked about selling internationally and had a lot of interest, but it's a big step so we will see. We do have some exciting plans coming out though for new colourways and one-off designs so watch this space.
